Stanley SC16 vs SCC500: choosing a corded or cordless circular saw
Choose the SC16-IN for wood-cutting jobs with suitable mains power and a straight-cut capacity of up to 65 mm. Choose the SCC500-B1 for cordless movement when its 54 mm maximum cutting depth fits the job; at a 45° bevel, its maximum depth is 45 mm. [1]; [2].
Before buying blades for SC16-IN, confirm its exact bore and flange fit. Check the saw’s nameplate for the correct mains supply. For SCC500-B1 bevel cuts, stay within the manual’s 0–45° range; the catalogue’s 50° claim has not been confirmed. [3]; [2]; [1].

Which saw fits which wood-cutting job?
- Workshop or site with suitable mains access: SC16-IN avoids managing tool-battery charge. Plan safe cable routing, work support and the manual's electrical precautions.
- Moving between cutting positions: SCC500-B1 removes the saw's mains lead from the cut. It still needs a compatible charged pack and a suitable place to charge it.
- Straight wood cuts deeper than 54 mm: consider SC16-IN if the cut stays within its 65 mm limit at 90°. Use the correct blade and setup, and never force a cut.
- Bevel work: SCC500-B1 allows up to 45 mm cutting depth at 45°. Confirm SC16-IN’s 45° cutting depth in its matching manual before planning the cut.
- Metal, concrete, brick or masonry: choose a tool and blade system specifically approved for that material. These saws are intended for wood cutting.
Blade choice, work support and material affect the cut. Follow the matching manual for your saw. [3]; [2].
SC16-IN: corded cutting and blade fit
SC16-IN is a 1,600 W corded circular saw with a 190 mm maximum blade diameter, 5,500 rpm no-load speed, a 65 mm maximum cut at 90° and bevel adjustment up to 45°. [4]; [1].
The exact SC16-IN mains rating, blade bore and flange fit, and cutting depth at 45° remain unconfirmed. Check the supplied saw’s nameplate, flange markings and matching instructions before connecting it or choosing a replacement blade. [3].
Confirm the actual supplied blade and accessories with Etool before ordering; a particular tooth count, guide, wrench or case is not confirmed. SC16-IN product listing.
SC16-IN do's and don'ts
Do:
- Read the supplied matching manual and check the nameplate supply before connection.
- Unplug before blade changes, setup adjustments or maintenance.
- Check lower-guard movement and spring return before each use; arrange service if the guard binds or fails to close.
- Clamp/support the work, use both handles and lock depth/bevel settings before cutting.
Don't:
- Use abrasive cut-off or diamond wheels, water-feed attachments, or treat the saw as a table saw.
- Cut concrete, brick, steel or other hard materials with this wood-cutting saw.
- Tie the guard open, reach below the work, or engage the spindle lock to stop a running blade.
- Choose a blade merely because it is 190 mm, or assume a 20/25.4 mm bore fits the SC16-IN without checking its exact flange.
Read the full supplied manual before use. [3].
SC16-IN FAQ
Is the SC16-IN cordless?
No. The India product page identifies it as corded, with 1,600 W rated input. It does not need a tool battery. [4].
What is its maximum straight-cut depth?
The India catalogue specifies 65 mm at 90°. Use the appropriate blade and setup for the material and stay within the supplied instructions. [1].
Which blade bore does SC16-IN need?
The bore and flange fit are unconfirmed for SC16-IN. Check the saw’s flange markings and matching manufacturer instructions before buying a blade; do not assume that a blade listed for another SC16 variant fits. [3].
What blade and accessories are included?
Confirm the supplied blade, tooth count and accessories with Etool before purchase. The current listing does not establish the full box contents. SC16-IN product listing.
SCC500-B1: cordless operation and the working kit
SCC500-B1 is a brushed V20 circular saw with a 165 mm blade, 20 mm bore, 2.0 mm blade tip width and 4,000 rpm no-load speed. Its battery system is 18 V nominal / 20 V MAX. Maximum cutting depth is 54 mm, or 45 mm at a 45° bevel. [1]; [2].
The Etool listing names SCC500-B1 but does not confirm a supplied battery or charger. Plan the working kit separately: saw, an explicitly compatible battery, compatible charger, suitable approved blade, work support and relevant dust-control equipment. Owning a different brand's 18 V or 20 V tools does not prove battery compatibility.
Use a maximum bevel setting of 45°, as instructed in the manual. The catalogue’s 50° claim remains unconfirmed for the exact tool; do not rely on the higher angle. [1]; [2].
SCC500-B1 do's and don'ts
Do:
- Remove the battery before adjustments, blade replacement or maintenance; confirm the pack latches fully when refitting.
- Use designated STANLEY V20 battery/charger combinations and follow the pack and charger instructions.
- Check the guard, clamp/support the wood, keep two hands on the saw and allow the blade to stop before putting it down.
- Keep the charger indoors and charge within the manual's 10–40°C ambient range.
Don't:
- Fit another battery merely because its label says 18 V or 20 V, or use damaged/modified packs.
- Force the saw, pull it backward with the blade moving, or hold the work across your leg.
- Clamp the lower guard open or fit abrasive wheels.
- Assume a battery/charger is included, assume double runtime from double Ah, or rely on an unconfirmed 50° bevel.
The tool is intended for wood and wood products. Read all supplied instructions before use. [2].
SCC500-B1 FAQ
Is SCC500-B1 brushless?
No. The India catalogue identifies SCC500 as a brushed model. [1].
Is it an 18 V or 20 V saw?
Can it bevel to 50°?
Are batteries and charger included?
Battery and charger inclusion is not confirmed. The India catalogue describes a bare tool, so check the exact Etool package and allow for compatible items separately if needed. Etool SCC500-B1 listing; [1].
What is SCC500-B1’s no-load speed?
Its no-load speed is 4,000 rpm, or revolutions per minute. This is blade speed before cutting, not a measured cutting rate. [2].
Batteries, charger and replacement blades
Compatible SCC500-B1 battery and charger options include:
- SB202-B1: 2.0 Ah V20 lithium-ion battery, listed by Stanley as compatible with SCC500-B1. [5].
- SB204-B1: 4.0 Ah V20 lithium-ion battery, listed by Stanley as compatible with SCC500-B1. [6].
- SC200-B1: India V20 2 A charger. The SCC500 manual lists SC200, with 220–240 VAC input and 18 V (20 V MAX) output. Match the supplied charger rating and plug. [7]; [2].
Check whether you need to buy a battery and charger separately. SC16-IN runs from mains power and does not need a tool battery.
For replacement blades, guides and dust fittings, confirm the exact part is approved for your saw. Blade dimensions alone do not establish compatibility: SC16-IN’s bore and flange fit remain unconfirmed, and SCC500-B1 blades must also meet its manual’s mounting and blade requirements. Check compatible batteries and chargers by exact model, and do not assume a generic battery adaptor is suitable. [3]; [2].
Comparison FAQ
Which saw is more powerful or faster?
Compare cutting depth, mobility and power access first. SC16-IN’s 1,600 W is mains input, while SCC500-B1’s 18 V is nominal battery voltage. Neither those ratings nor no-load rpm tell you which saw will cut faster.
Can the same blade be used in both?
Do not assume the blades are interchangeable. The saws use different blade diameters, and each blade must meet the saw’s mounting and manufacturer requirements. Confirm compatibility for the exact model.
Does cordless mean the complete kit is cheaper or lighter?
Include any battery and charger you need when comparing the total cost and kit weight. Check what you already own, what the package includes and the delivery total before buying.
Which is suitable for a cut around 60 mm deep?
Terms that matter before buying
- Rated input power (W): electrical input stated for the corded tool; it is not a measured blade-output rating.
- Nominal voltage / MAX voltage: the battery's nominal system rating versus the initial unloaded voltage described by Stanley.
- No-load speed (rpm): blade revolutions per minute before it is cutting material. It cannot predict cut time by itself.
- Blade diameter: the blade's outside diameter. It does not establish bore, flange, guard or material compatibility.
- Bore/arbour hole: the central mounting hole, which must match the saw's specified mounting system.
- Bevel angle: how far the blade tilts from its square-cut position; cutting depth generally changes with the angle, so use the stated angle-specific limit.
- Maximum cutting depth: a published geometric limit for the stated configuration, not a guarantee for every material or a reason to force the tool.
- Ampere-hour (Ah): battery capacity rating; it does not promise a proportional cut count or runtime.
- Bare tool: a tool-only catalogue configuration. Confirm the actual retailer package instead of relying on a photograph.
- Kickback: a sudden reaction when the blade binds, pinches or becomes misaligned, potentially driving the saw toward the operator.
Safe-use checklist for both models
1. Read the matching model/type manual and verify the tool, guard, switch, blade and mounting hardware before use.
2. Isolate power for setup: unplug SC16-IN; remove SCC500-B1's battery. Use only the correct, approved blade and mounting components.
3. Support and clamp the work on a stable platform. Support large panels to reduce sagging and blade pinching; never rest the cut on your hand or leg.
4. Set and lock depth/bevel according to the manual. Hold the saw with both hands and keep hands clear of the blade and the underside of the work.
5. Use appropriate eye/hearing/dust protection and the confirmed extraction setup. Treat wood/MDF dust as a hazard.
6. If binding occurs, release the trigger and keep the saw still until the blade stops. Resolve the cause before restarting; never pull the running blade backward.
7. Let the lower guard operate normally. Do not tie it open. Wait for blade stop and guard cover before setting the saw down.
8. Keep damaged tools/packs out of service and arrange qualified repairs. This short checklist does not replace training or the supplied manual.
