Saw Blades & Hole Saws

Start with the shape of the cut and the material: a straight line through timber, a curve in plywood and a round opening in sheet metal lead to different accessories. Then check the exact Bosch machine, connection and cutting limits.

[8] [10] [9]

This guide covers Bosch accessories for Bosch tools. Check the instructions for the exact tool and accessory before buying or using them.

1. Choose by the cut you need

A straight cut in timber: circular saw blade

For a straight timber cut with a corded handheld circular saw, look for a blade listed for that machine type and wood. Bosch’s PRO Wood example has carbide teeth and lists softwood and hardwood. A blade for a mitre saw or table saw needs its own machine-specific check.

[8] [2] [21]

A curve in plywood: jigsaw blade

For a curved plywood cut, a narrow wood jigsaw blade is a useful starting point. Bosch T 101 AO lists plywood and uses a narrow blade with fine teeth for clean curved cuts. Check its recommended material-thickness range; the total blade length is not that range.

[10] [24]

A round opening in sheet metal: hole saw

A hole saw cuts a round opening with a drill-driven cup. Bosch PRO Sheet Metal PC Plus lists steel and stainless-steel sheet and uses a short body with a depth stop. Its required Power Change Plus arbor is the holder connecting the cup to the drill setup. Check the cup, arbor and pilot drill as a complete setup rather than buying by hole diameter alone.

[3] [9]

Cutting pipe or metal profile: reciprocating blade

Measure the pipe wall as well as the overall section you must cut through. Bosch S922AF lists thin metal walls of 0.7–2 mm; S922BF lists medium-thick walls of 2.5–8 mm. Both list a separate maximum cutting capacity of 100 mm. These are limits for the two named blades: wall thickness describes the metal layer, while cutting capacity concerns the overall section. A long blade is not automatically the right blade for a thin wall.

[11] [12]

A small softwood cutout: oscillating multitool blade

For a small softwood cutout close to an edge, consider the multitool route and a blade that explicitly lists that job. Bosch AIZ 32 EPC is a Starlock softwood blade with a curved cutting edge for plunge cuts. For GOP 30-28, plunge cuts are limited to soft materials, and you must check that no power lines lie behind the cut.

[15] [26]

Foam work: a specialist blade-and-guide system

The Other Saw Blades route includes paired PRO Foam blades for the Bosch GSG 300 foam rubber cutter and separate blade guides. The two foam blades work in tandem. Choose the blade set and guide against your exact GSG 300 instructions; these are not replacement jigsaw or reciprocating blades. Do not fit or run this specialist assembly without its matching fitting and safety instructions.

[5] [13] [14]

2. See how the choice changes

Example: rounding a plywood shelf corner

Choose a wood jigsaw blade designed for curves, such as the T 101 AO, after comparing the shelf thickness with its stated range. With a GST 680, secure the work and keep the base plate supported; a jammed blade can break or cause kickback.

[10] [24]

Example: a round cable opening in steel sheet

Start with the opening size in the project specification and the actual sheet thickness. A sheet-metal hole saw such as PRO Sheet Metal PC Plus answers that round-opening job; a jigsaw blade addresses a different cutting path. Check the specified arbor, pilot, usable depth and the exact Bosch drill’s instructions and capacity before choosing the setup. A drilling accessory can jam and produce a strong twisting reaction, so work restraint and the drill’s required handles matter.

[9] [10] [3] [27]

3. Check these five details before buying

Material and thickness

Write down the exact material and thickness, including pipe-wall thickness where relevant. Tooth pitch is the spacing between teeth; TPI states teeth per inch. Use the blade’s stated material and thickness range rather than a rule that more teeth is always better.

[11] [12] [9] [10]

Machine and connection

Identify your Bosch tool model, then its permitted connection. A circular blade’s bore is its centre mounting hole; a jigsaw or reciprocating blade uses a shank, and a hole saw uses its specified arbor.

[21] [24] [26] [10] [11] [9]

The dimensions that control the cut

For a circular blade, check outer diameter, bore size and shape, body thickness and cutting width against the exact saw requirements. Cutting width describes the slot made by the teeth; body thickness describes the blade plate. For a hole saw, check opening diameter and usable working depth separately.

[8] [21] [9]

Speed and mode

The GKS 190 manual requires a blade’s maximum permitted speed to be higher than the saw’s no-load speed. Use the exact tool and accessory instructions for working speed and drilling mode; a machine labelled impact drill does not itself authorise hammer action with a hole saw.

[21] [9] [27]

What the pack supplies

Check whether you are buying a blade, cup, arbor, pilot drill, guide or a combination. A product photo or a shared family name is not a contents list.

Pro tips & practical checks

Do: make the final checks count

Keep circular-saw guards and mounting correct

For GKS 190, check that the lower guard closes freely; never tie it open. Fit the correct undamaged mounting hardware and align the blade and guard direction arrows. Secure the work on a stable platform, support large panels on both sides near the cut and edges, and hold the saw with both hands. If the blade binds, release the trigger and hold still until it stops; pulling it backwards while moving risks kickback.

[21]

Keep jigsaw and reciprocating blades under control

For GST 680 and GSA 12-30, confirm secure blade seating, clamp the work and keep the footplate against it. Keep hands out of the cutting area and wait for the blade to stop before withdrawing it. The GSA 12-30 requires a firm two-handed grip. Wear protective gloves for blade changes and allow hot blades to cool.

[24] [25]

Treat drill-driven hole saws as drilling setups

Follow the exact drill’s workholding and handle requirements. For example, GSB 600 requires its auxiliary handle and secure work; if an accessory blocks, switch off immediately and expect a strong twisting reaction. These controls do not establish which hole-saw diameter that drill can safely drive.

[27] [9]

Make the multitool checks specific

For GOP 30-28, clamp the work, use both hands and hold insulated grips wherever wiring contact is possible. Check wood for nails and screws before using the AIZ 32 EPC wood blade. Follow this model’s bolted accessory-fitting instructions and check secure seating before starting.

[26]

Don’t: make a material label override the tool

Do not turn a wood circular saw into a metal cutter

For GKS 190, do not use abrasive wheels or high-speed-steel (HSS) saw blades, and do not cut ferrous metals. Its manual warns that hot ferrous-metal chips may ignite the dust extractor.

[21] [22]

Do not keep cutting with a damaged or jammed blade

For GST 680 and GSA 12-30, bent or dull blades can break or cause kickback; switch off immediately if the blade blocks. Do not try to stop a moving blade by pushing sideways against it.

[24] [25]

Common questions

Does a blade fitting the holder prove it is suitable?

No. Material, thickness, dimensions and the permitted machine still need to match.

[8] [10] [11]
Can I use any Starlock-family blade on a GOP 30-28?

No. Its manual allows Starlock and StarlockPlus accessories but excludes StarlockMax. The accessory’s material and operating limits still apply after the connection check.

[26] [15]
Why check pipe-wall thickness and cutting capacity separately?

The wall is the layer of metal the teeth cut; cutting capacity concerns the overall section the blade can handle. Bosch’s thin- and medium-thick-metal blades list those limits separately, so select for both.
