DEWALT India · India buying guide
DEWALT DW801 vs DW802 vs DW810
For a 100 mm corded grinding tool, compare the DW801-IN01 and DW802-IN at 850 W with the DW810-IN at 750 W. Choose by the permitted work, controls and included equipment; input power alone does not tell you which grinder will complete a job fastest. [1] [2] [3] [3]
The DW801 listing is identified as DW801-IN01 in its description. Check the exact model and type on the supplied tool before selecting its manual or accessories. [4] [5] [6]
Check the supplied tool’s type, speed marking and controls before buying accessories. For DW802, confirm the switch on the actual unit. For DW810, confirm the required handle arrangement with DEWALT before use.

Quick choice by requirement
- For an 850 W, 100 mm grinding shortlist, compare DW801-IN01 and DW802-IN. Their shared power rating is not a reason to call them interchangeable.
- For a 750 W, 100 mm grinding shortlist, consider DW810-IN. A lower input rating alone does not prove lower running cost for a completed job or make it a beginner's safety choice.
- If a slider switch matters to you, confirm the DW802’s supplied switch before ordering. Its India type-1 manual describes a slider, while the product-page wording is inconsistent.
- For wood or tile cutting, sanding, wire brushing or polishing, choose a tool explicitly intended for that work. The India manuals for these DW801, DW802 and DW810 models do not recommend those operations.
Comparable specifications and important limits
| Field | DW801-IN01 listing | DW802-IN listing | DW810-IN listing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Input power | 850 W | 850 W | 750 W |
| Wheel diameter | 100 mm | 100 mm | 100 mm |
| Power supply in model-family manuals | 220–240 V AC | 220–240 V AC | 220–240 V AC |
| Spindle in model-family manuals | M10 | M10 | M10 |
The DW801 manual columns use DW801-IN, the model family behind the IN01 listing. Match the actual tool’s type number to its manual before use. The table uses the following India product pages, catalogue entries and model-family manuals. [4] [5] [6] [1] [2] [7] [8] [9] [3] [3] [3]
Check the tool’s speed marking
Check the maximum speed marked on your tool and its matching type-specific manual before choosing an accessory. The accessory’s rated speed must be at least the maximum speed marked on the tool. If the label and manual disagree, ask DEWALT to resolve the difference before use. [1] [2] [3] [3] [6] [7] [8] [9]
What the terms mean
- Input power, in watts, is the electrical input rating. It is not a measured metal-removal rate.
- No-load speed is rotational speed without a grinding load. It does not tell you the speed maintained during grinding.
- M10 identifies the spindle thread. It does not mean that a flange-mounted wheel needs a 10 mm centre hole. Threaded accessories and flange-mounted wheels have different fit checks.
- Wheel diameter is only one part of compatibility. Thickness, wheel type, permitted operation, flange fit, guard and accessory speed rating also matter.
- Model and type are separate identifiers. The manufacturer's service portal has more than one type for DW801 and DW810, so a base model name is not enough to choose a service part or manual.
These explanations follow the separate technical-data, mounting and safety requirements in DW801/DW810 type-16 manual, pp4–8 [8] and DW802 India type-1 manual, pp3–8 [9], and the model/type choices in the India DW801 service record [10].
DW801-IN01 questions and do's and don'ts
Which DW801 model is linked here?
DW801 do's and don'ts
- Do identify the supplied type and use its matching manual, guard and permitted grinding accessory.
- Do disconnect mains power before accessory changes or adjustments.
- Don't treat the catalogue's rpm as a confirmed nameplate rating for every type.
- Don't read “accessible brushes” as permission for DIY brush replacement. The reviewed manuals direct brush servicing to an authorised DEWALT repair agent.
DW802-IN questions and do's and don'ts
Is the DW802 a slider-switch model?
Can I use the DW802 for wood or tile cutting?
The India type-1 manual identifies professional grinding as the intended use. It does not recommend cutting-off, sanding, wire brushing or polishing. Choose a tool specifically intended for those jobs. [9]
DW802 do's and don'ts
- Do check that the side handle and guard are properly secured, following the matching manual.
- Do match the accessory’s rated speed to the maximum speed marked on the tool and check the applicable manual.
- Don't use the spindle lock while the tool is operating.
- Don't assume every 100 mm cutting or sanding accessory is permitted simply because it fits the diameter.
Manual basis: [9].
DW810-IN questions and do's and don'ts
Is the DW810 corded or cordless?
Does the DW810 include a side handle?
DW810 do's and don'ts
- Do confirm whether the actual tool is type 15, type 16 or another type before relying on its rpm.
- Do stop and resolve any mismatch between the tool, its control equipment and the applicable instructions before use.
- Don’t operate with missing required control equipment or assume a lower power rating makes grinding safer.
- Don't omit the guard or use an accessory outside the matching manual's limits.
Accessories need an exact match
Check the permitted operation, wheel diameter and thickness, mounting fit, guard and speed rating against the exact tool type and manual. A 100 mm diameter or M10 spindle alone does not establish that an accessory is suitable. [8]; [9].
Safety checks before use
Read and follow the manual supplied with the exact tool type. Resolve any mismatch in its grip, guard or control equipment before use.
- Switch off and unplug before adjustments, maintenance or changing an accessory.
- Match the permitted operation, wheel type, diameter and thickness. Match threaded accessories to the spindle and flange-mounted accessories to the locating flange; do not infer bore size from M10.
- Use the correct guard and undamaged mounting parts. Inspect accessories for damage and follow the manual's pre-use checks.
- The accessory's rated speed must be at least the maximum speed marked on the tool. If the label and applicable manual differ, resolve the discrepancy with DEWALT before choosing an accessory.
- Always wear eye protection. Use the hearing, respiratory and other protection required by the job and matching manual. Secure the workpiece and keep bystanders clear.
- Keep the cord clear of moving parts, and do not operate in wet conditions or near flammable material.
- Let rotation stop completely before putting the tool down. Never engage the spindle lock while running.
- Do not grind with the side of a cut-off wheel. Do not infer that a general safety warning authorises a cutting operation that the tool's intended-use section excludes.
Comparison FAQs
Is 850 W automatically better than 750 W?
No conclusion about real-job performance follows from that number alone. In this comparison it describes rated electrical input. Choose a tool whose permitted operation, wheel system and controls suit the work, then compare a verified specification and total kit price.
Can I fit a larger wheel for extra cutting reach?
Which is the best value?
Compare the full kit price, included equipment and current availability after confirming the exact type and permitted work.
Are the current warranties and box contents confirmed?
Check the current India warranty terms and the included-items list for the exact listing before ordering. Confirm any handle, guard, wrench or accessory you need.
