Bosch ratchet screwdrivers: stubby, 12-bit or T-handle?

Choose 1600A032V0 for a longer straight screwdriver with 12 bits stored in the handle, 1600A032UY when a short straight handle suits the space, or 1600A02Z9T for a T-handle and a boxed selection of bits and nutsetters. [1], [2], [3].

Compare the screw profiles you need, the space around the fastener and how you want to carry your bits. The three models below offer different combinations of reach, handle shape and storage.

Start with the space and the screw

A ratcheting screwdriver lets you turn a screw with repeated handle strokes. All three have a metal selector ring for left/right direction and a middle setting for conventional, non-ratcheting turning. “Stubby” describes the shorter format. A “magazine” stores bits in the handle. [1], [2], [3].

Check three things before choosing:

  • The screw-head profile and size you actually need
  • Clearance behind the screw for the tool and your hand
  • Whether you prefer bits kept in the handle or a separate box with a wider selection

PH means Phillips, PZ means Pozidriv, SL is slotted, TX denotes Torx, and HEX is hexagonal. Match the marked profile and size rather than choosing a tip that merely looks close. These tip names describe the screw end; they do not establish the dimensions of the shank that fits the holder. [4].

Compare shape, reach and ratchet specifications

Exact Bosch reference Shape and storage Listed tool dimensions, L × W × H Shaft length Manufacturer ratchet specification
1600A032V0 Straight handle; pop-up 12-bit magazine 207 × 38 × 40 mm 80 mm 36 teeth; up to 50 Nm
1600A032UY Stubby straight handle; six-bit magazine 111 × 36 × 37 mm 28 mm 36 teeth; up to 50 Nm
1600A02Z9T T-shaped handle; supplied storage box 109 × 100 × 32 mm 28 mm 36 teeth; up to 46 Nm

All three have a manufacturer-described magnetic bit holder and two-component soft-grip handle. Dimensions are Bosch’s tool figures, not a promise of clearance with every fitted bit or extension. The torque figures are manufacturer capability statements, not measured test results or recommended screw-tightening settings. Sources: [1], [2] and [3].

What is included?

1600A032V0: 12 short bits

The India delivery list specifies 12 bits, each 25 mm long: PH1, PH2, PZ1, PZ2, PZ3, SL4, SL5, SL6, TX20, TX25, HEX4 and HEX5. Bosch describes S2-steel, colour-coded bits stored inside the handle. [1].

1600A032UY: six short bits

The six supplied 25 mm bits are PH2, PZ1, PZ2, SL4, TX25 and HEX5. Bosch describes S2-steel, colour-coded bits in the handle magazine. This smaller selection is useful only if it covers your actual fasteners; it does not include every size supplied with 1600A032V0. [2].

1600A02Z9T: short bits, long bits and nutsetters

The written India scope lists:

  • Ten 25 mm bits: PH1, PH2, PZ1, PZ2, SL4, SL5, TX20, TX25, HEX4 and HEX5
  • Six 75 mm bits: PH2, PZ2, SL5, TX15, TX20 and TX25
  • Nutsetters: 6, 8, 10 and 13 mm
  • One bit extension and a storage box

Use this itemised scope to compare the set. Etool’s “22-Pieces” title does not mean 22 screwdriver bits. Do not count contents from a product picture. [3].

Manufacturer delivery lists describe the exact reference. Check the label and contents of the actual Etool package before purchase, especially if packaging or listings have changed.

Which format suits your work?

Choose 1600A032V0 for one-handle convenience

Consider 1600A032V0 for general assembly and adjustments where you have room for a longer straight tool. Its 12 supplied profiles offer a wider choice than the six-bit stubby model. Check that the set includes the tips your job needs. [1].

  • Do: check the supplied tip list against the job before buying
  • Do: leave enough clearance to align the tool with the screw
  • Don’t: force an angled approach just to use the longer format
  • Don’t: assume every replacement bit will fit its magazine

Choose 1600A032UY when the longer handle is awkward

Consider it for accessible fasteners with restricted space behind them, such as a furniture adjustment near an obstruction. Its shorter format can help where the longer model is inconvenient, but a recess may still require more reach. “Compact” does not guarantee that your hand and the selected bit will fit.

  • Do: measure the available space and check the six supplied profiles
  • Do: keep the bit squarely seated during manual turning
  • Don’t: buy it solely because “stubby” sounds suitable for every tight space
  • Don’t: choose by the word “stubby” alone; check the exact model and supplied tip list

Choose 1600A02Z9T for a transverse grip and boxed selection

Consider the T-handle set for bench or furniture assembly when its crosswise grip is comfortable for the task and you need the supplied longer bits or nutsetters. Check sideways clearance as well as depth. A short shaft does not make the broad T-handle suitable for every narrow opening.

  • Do: select a supplied bit or nutsetter that matches the fastener
  • Do: check grip clearance before adding the extension
  • Don’t: assume the T-handle is stronger because of its shape
  • Don’t: treat the set as a torque wrench or presume it has in-handle bit storage

Measure the actual opening and check the complete tool with the selected bit. Handle shape and dimensions alone cannot guarantee access to a particular fastener.

Choosing bits and using the tools safely

Start with the supplied bits. Before buying replacements, confirm the holder interface and accessory specification with Bosch. Bit length, shaft diameter and tip labels such as PH2 describe different things; none alone proves holder compatibility.

Check both fit in the holder and fit in the magazine before buying replacement bits. Longer or double-ended bits may not store in the handle. The T-handle set includes its own extension; check compatibility separately for any other extension. [3].

Use these tools for manual fastening. Do not assume the tools or their bits are suitable for powered or impact use, and do not rely on soft grips for protection during live electrical work. Follow the instructions supplied with your exact tool and the job’s safety procedure. Stop if a tip is damaged, slips or cannot seat properly in the fastener.

Model FAQs

1600A032V0

Does “+ 12 Bits” mean 12 different screwdrivers?

No. It is a single bit-holding screwdriver with the listed interchangeable tips.

Will it reach every recessed screw?

Check the opening, alignment and fitted tool against the actual job. An 80 mm shaft does not guarantee access to every recess. [1].

1600A032UY

Can it replace a torque-controlled tool?

Do not use the maximum ratchet figure as a screw-tightening setting. Use the specified torque-control procedure whenever the job requires one.

1600A02Z9T

Are the nutsetters part of the documented set?

Yes; their four metric sizes are listed in the scope above. Do not infer additional sizes from photographs.

Does it store its bits inside the handle?

Choose the T-handle set for its supplied storage box. Do not expect the in-handle magazine described for the two straight screwdrivers. [3].
