Bosch GSR 185-LI vs GSR 18V-65: which drill/driver fits your job?

For general screwdriving and drilling in wood or steel, start with the hole sizes and kit you need. The GSR 185-LI has a 10 mm steel-drilling limit and a Bosch India two-battery kit. The GSR 18V-65 has a 13 mm steel-drilling limit, a 166 mm head and switchable KickBack Control. Confirm whether the Etool GSR 18V-65 option includes batteries and a charger before comparing the complete cost.

Both are 18V brushless drill/drivers. They have rotary drilling and screwdriving functions, but no impact-drilling function. For masonry work, choose a tool specifically intended for the material and task.

Compare soft torque with soft torque and hard torque with hard torque. Bosch used different batteries for these torque and speed figures, so they are not a same-battery performance test. No-load speed is measured without a working load and does not show how quickly a hole will be finished. The GSR 18V-65’s separate 76 Nm maximum-torque rating is different from its 63 Nm hard torque.

Which model suits your work?

GSR 185-LI: consider it for everyday screws, wood holes up to the stated 35 mm limit and steel holes up to 10 mm. Its chuck opens to 13 mm, but that does not raise its steel-drilling limit. Bosch India order 06019K30F0 lists two GBA 18V 2.0 Ah batteries, a GAL 18V-40 charger and a carrying case. Confirm that the product option you buy includes that package.

GSR 18V-65: consider it if the 13 mm steel-drilling limit, 166 mm head length, dual working lights or KickBack Control would help with your jobs. Check the space needed with the bit fitted. KickBack Control provides additional protection by rapidly shutting off the tool if it suddenly rotates around the drilling axis; safe handling is still essential.

Battery and kit questions

Does the GSR 185-LI include two batteries?

The Bosch India 06019K30F0 package lists two GBA 18V 2.0 Ah batteries, a GAL 18V-40 charger and carrying case. Check the included-items list for the Etool option you select.

Does the GSR 18V-65 include batteries and a charger?

Check before ordering. Bosch offers kit 06019N30F0 with two 2.0 Ah batteries, a GAL 18V-40 charger and case, and solo order 06019N30F2 with a case but no battery or charger. The Etool listing does not establish which package it supplies. The ProCORE18V 4.0 Ah battery used for the torque and speed measurements is a test condition, not a promise of an included battery.

Can I use an existing 18V battery?

The manuals list Bosch Professional GBA 18V and ProCORE18V battery families and designated charger families. Match the exact battery, charger and local supply requirements to the tool’s manual. Shared voltage alone does not establish compatibility with another brand, Bosch DIY batteries or a charger from another region.

GSR 185-LI use and care

Remove the battery before changing bits, adjusting or maintaining the tool. Secure the workpiece, wear appropriate eye protection and check for hidden cables or pipes. Hold the insulated gripping surfaces where contact with concealed live wiring is possible.

Can the 13 mm chuck drill a 13 mm hole in steel?

Bosch specifies a 10 mm maximum steel-drilling diameter for the GSR 185-LI. The 1.5–13 mm chuck capacity describes the bit shank it can grip and is a separate specification.

GSR 18V-65 use and care

Read the KickBack Control status indications and full instructions before use. Stop using the tool if the function is faulty. It is switchable and does not guarantee protection from kickback injury. Remove the battery before adjustments or bit changes, and keep a secure grip on the tool.

Is GSR 18V-65 hard torque 65 Nm?

Its specified hard torque is 63 Nm, with 31 Nm soft torque and a separate 76 Nm maximum rating. The model suffix does not give its hard-torque value. The torque and speed figures use a ProCORE18V 4.0 Ah battery at 20–25°C.

Safe use for both models

Start long bits slowly with the tip touching the workpiece, stay within the bit’s maximum speed and avoid excessive pressure. Select mechanical gears only when the tool is stopped. Use the appropriate clutch setting for the screw and material, apply the tool to a screw while switched off and stop immediately if the bit jams.

Choose bits for the material, size, shank and speed required, then tighten the keyless chuck as the manual directs. Keep the tool and ventilation slots clean. Protect batteries from heat, water and short circuits; do not use damaged or modified packs or attempt to repair them yourself.

Which is the better buy?

Choose around drilling capacity, access and control features, then compare the full kit cost. The GSR 185-LI’s two-battery package may be useful when starting a setup; the GSR 18V-65 adds its documented control features and larger steel-drilling limit. Confirm kit contents before paying.

Can either model hammer-drill brick or concrete?

These GSR drill/drivers do not have the GSB versions’ impact-drilling function. Use a drill or rotary hammer specifically intended for the material and task.
