Bosch GLM 50-23 G vs GLM 50-27 CG

Choose the GLM 50-23 G for on-tool indoor measurements with a favourite shortcut. Choose the GLM 50-27 CG if transferring readings to a compatible phone through MeasureOn and receiving vibration feedback would help your work. Both have the same published distance-range and accuracy conditions.

What these tools measure

Both measure distances and calculate areas and volumes from readings. They also measure incline and have a digital spirit-level function. They are intended for indoor measurement; they do not project alignment lines like a line laser.

The favourable distance figures apply from the front edge to a highly reflective target, such as a white-painted wall, in weak background light at 20°C. The unfavourable figures apply from the front edge to a highly reflective target at 20°C, with strong background light and high elevation. Include the distance-dependent deviation in both cases. The 0.5 mm display increment is not 0.5 mm accuracy.

[1] [2]

Bosch’s 1.5 m drop-resistance claim applies to the GLM 50-27 CG; do not assume the same numerical rating for the GLM 50-23 G. Avoid dropping either tool and check accuracy after a strong impact. Neither should be immersed in water.

Measuring and recording your work

Both cover direct length, area, volume, wall area, indirect height or length, stake-out, incline and memory functions. Prefer direct measurement where practical. Indirect calculations need the geometry in the manual and are generally less accurate; wall-area calculations assume a shared height. Select the correct reference edge or tripod centre before measuring.

[1] [2]

Incline accuracy is a separate specification from distance accuracy. Both specify a typical ±0.2° at 25°C after calibration at 0° and 90°, with an additional ±0.01° per degree up to 45°. The left side is the incline reference; follow the separate orientation instructions for the digital spirit level.

GLM 50-23 G questions

Does the GLM 50-23 G connect to MeasureOn?

It has no Bluetooth measurement-transfer feature. If sending readings directly to a phone matters to you, consider the GLM 50-27 CG and check that your device meets the app requirements.

[2] [3] [6]

Are batteries and a pouch included?

Confirm the actual contents of the product option you buy, including AA cells, pouch and manufacturer’s certificate. A power-supply specification describes what the tool can use; it does not establish what is inside the carton. The optional rechargeable pack should be checked separately.

GLM 50-27 CG questions

What does Bluetooth add?

It transfers measurements over Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy to a compatible mobile device. Bosch lists the model for MeasureOn. Check the phone or tablet, operating system and GATT support; free and paid app plans have different cloud and export features.

[2] [6]

Is the GLM 50-27 CG more accurate?

Both manuals specify the same favourable and unfavourable distance accuracy and the same typical incline accuracy. Bluetooth and vibration feedback change how you record and receive measurements, rather than giving a numerical accuracy advantage.

[1] [2]

Are the two Etool GLM 50-27 CG listings different kits?

The two product pages describe the same model, but their descriptions do not establish different Bosch orders or included contents. Ask for the supplied order and contents of the exact page you plan to buy from. Do not assume one includes a rechargeable pack.

[4] [3]

Power and accessories

Both take two 1.5 V LR6 AA cells; the manuals recommend alkaline-manganese or NiMH rechargeable cells. Replace the pair together with cells of the same manufacturer and capacity, observing polarity. For the optional BA 3.7V 1.0Ah A pack, the sales reference is 1608M00C5D; its technical article is 1607A3517H. These are different identifiers for checking the specified accessory, not permission to use arbitrary same-voltage packs.

[1] [2]

The optional pack charges through its own USB-C port using the manual’s specified 5.0 V supply with at least 500 mA, at +10°C to +35°C. Follow its charging instructions and do not assume the pack or charging supply is included.

[1] [2]

Both have a 1/4-inch tripod thread. The manuals name BT 150 order 0601096B00 and passive laser target plate 2607001391. Match the exact accessory and interface before buying, and select the tripod reference when using it. A passive target plate is not an electronic laser receiver.

Use and care for both models

Read and retain the manual and warning label. Never point the beam at people or animals or look into direct or reflected laser light. If it reaches your eyes, close them and turn away. Laser-viewing glasses improve visibility but do not protect against laser radiation. Do not modify the laser, supervise children around it and avoid explosive atmospheres.

[1], [2]

Keep the lens and laser outlet clear. Allow the tool to acclimatise after temperature changes and perform the manual’s distance and incline checks regularly and after a strong impact. Bright light, target reflectivity, surface texture, glass and indirect reflections can affect results. Clean with a damp soft cloth without detergents or solvents; never immerse the tool.

[1] [2]

Switch off after use, remove cells for prolonged storage and keep the battery cover or specified pack fitted. Do not use damaged power supplies, open battery packs or short their terminals.

[1] [2]

For the GLM 50-27 CG, select the correct tool serial number when pairing and observe wireless restrictions around medical devices, petrol stations, chemical plants, explosive or blasting areas and aircraft. Avoid prolonged close-to-body operation as directed in the manual.

[2]

Comparison questions

Will either measure 50 m outdoors in bright sunlight?

Both are intended for indoor measurement. The 50 m range depends on the favourable target, light and temperature conditions above; the specified unfavourable range is 20 m. A visible green spot does not remove those limits.

[1] [2]

Which model should I choose?

Choose the GLM 50-23 G if you mainly read and record measurements yourself. Choose the GLM 50-27 CG if compatible Bluetooth transfer and vibration feedback suit your workflow. Compare the actual included accessories and complete price for the listing you select.
