Bosch GBG 35-15 vs GBG 60-20: which bench grinder fits your work?

Choose around the wheel format you need: the GBG 35-15 uses 150 mm wheels and has a 350 W rated input, while the GBG 60-20 uses 200 mm wheels and has a 600 W rated input. Both are for tool sharpening and metal grinding or deburring, with the right wheel for the material. Both have S2 short-term duty: a maximum 60-minute operating period followed by cooling.

Input power is the electrical input rating. It does not tell you how quickly a grinder will remove material or how fine the finish will be. Match the actual machine’s nameplate to the supply, and check its marked maximum speed before choosing a wheel.

[1] [2]

Which model suits your work?

GBG 35-15: choose it when the 150 × 20 × 20 mm wheel format suits your sharpening or metalworking needs. Keep the 20 mm wheel bore separate from mounting-flange dimensions; alternative bore entries in a family manual are not permission to adapt a wheel.

[1] [2] [3]

GBG 60-20: choose it when you specifically need the larger 200 × 25 × 32 mm wheel format. Its higher input rating does not establish a larger workpiece capacity or suitability for every material. Its 32 mm wheel bore is distinct from the manual’s separate 15 mm mounting-flange bore.

Wheel selection and safe use

The two wheel formats are not interchangeable. Use the exact diameter, width, bore and material specification required for your machine. The wheel’s rated speed must be at least the maximum speed marked on the tool. Do not enlarge a bore, substitute flanges or fit an angle-grinder disc.

[1] [2]

Keep the correct workpiece supports, guards and spark arrestors fitted. The wheel-to-workpiece-support gap and the wheel-to-spark-arrestor-holder gap must each be no more than 2 mm. Check these regularly, do not swap left and right supports, and replace a worn wheel when the holder can no longer meet the limit. Follow the full manual or get qualified help with setup.

[1] [2]

Check wheels for damage and follow the manual’s pre-use no-load check, keeping people away from the wheel plane. Do not use a damaged, untrue or vibrating wheel, grind on its side or exceed the specified wheel diameter. The manual requires grinding tools on both spindles; do not run the machine with an exposed spindle.

[1] [2]

Wear the required eye, hearing and task-appropriate protection. Keep people and combustible materials clear of sparks and follow the manual’s dust precautions. For carbide workpieces, the manual specifies silicon-carbide C grinding discs; a generic metal wheel or matching diameter alone is not enough.

[1] [2]

Respect the maximum 60-minute S2 operating period and allow the machine to cool afterward. Do not start back-to-back cycles without cooling; the manual does not give a fixed cooling interval.

[1], [2]

Unplug before work on the tool. Use a properly earthed supply and qualified repair; have Bosch or an authorised service centre replace a damaged supply cord. Read the complete instructions for your machine before installation, wheel changes or use.

GBG 35-15 questions

What wheel size does the GBG 35-15 use?

Bosch India specifies 150 mm diameter, 20 mm width and 20 mm bore. Its wheel references are 1609201649 in grit 24 and 1609201650 in grit 60. Check the wheel marking, speed rating and material suitability against the actual machine before ordering.

[3] [5]

What comes with the GBG 35-15?

Bosch India order 060127A3F0 lists normal-grit wheels in grit 24 and grit 60. Confirm the order and included contents on the Etool product page before buying.

GBG 60-20 questions

Is wheel 2608600111 the supplied grit-24 wheel?

No. Bosch’s accessory row for 2608600111 is grit 36, in the 200 × 25 × 32 mm format. The machine’s manufacturer supply list separately specifies grit 24 and grit 60 wheels. Confirm which wheels come with the order you select.

[4] [6]

Can I choose a replacement wheel from its diameter alone?

No. Check width, bore, wheel type, material suitability and speed rating as well. The GBG 60-20 wheel format is 200 × 25 × 32 mm. Match the replacement to the actual machine and follow its full manual.

[2]

Comparison questions

Can either grinder run continuously for a full shift?

Both specify S2 short-term operation for a maximum of 60 minutes followed by cooling. An induction motor does not make either model a continuous-duty machine.

Which should I buy?

Start with the wheel format and material you need to work on, then check duty limits, the supplied machine and the complete price. The 150 mm GBG 35-15 and 200 mm GBG 60-20 serve different wheel requirements; the higher input figure alone is not a finish-quality or productivity ranking.
